We live not according to reason, but according to fashion...

Ever since Ms Richie underwent her style overhaul all that time ago at the hands of the brilliant Rachel Zoe, I have followed her contemporary rich hippy style with keen interest and admiration. As such I fell instantaneously in lust with her House of Harlow 1960 jewellery range when it launched last year, so imagine my delight when I discovered she was expanding on her design prowess and creating her own clothes line, Winter Kate - which takes the middle names of Nicole’s daughter Harlow. Apparently the collection was inspired by peacocks and other birds. All pieces are vintage inspired and are true to her own bohemian style with flowing maxi dresses, tunics, vests, paisley print blouses and kimono jackets featuring rich prints in vintage silk crepes and vintage silk chiffons.

The designs are the perfect mix of old meets new; romantic and feminine vintage washed florals are easy and simple to wear and layer. Kimono jackets can be worn casually with jeans and give them a soft and bohemian edge whilst maxi dresses can be toughened up with cropped leather jackets and vests.

I snapped up a couple of my favourite pieces from the collection at Selfridges this afternoon, the kimono maxi dress and purple ‘Opy’ jacket (this fabulous jacket has been made from vintage silk, so each one is slightly individual), because let’s face it who doesn’t cherish the beauty and the pleasure of wearing rich bohemian styles with a touch of Nicole’s signature flair and magic.
